Danniella Westbook has given her fans an update on her surgery and described how the operation was a 'huge success'.

The 48 year old former EastEnders actress, who recently stunned fans with a new look as she celebrated her birthday, was in hospital for the second time after she was rushed in following a sinus infection.

In a tweet to her 228,600 Twitter followers, she penned: "Thanks for all the messages of support for my operation. It was a huge success and I’m so happy thank you to @LivHospitals and the best staff surgical team and cleanest hospital ever x #NHS #Liverpool."

Danniella recently shared a selfie from her hospital bed that was geotagged at Aintree Hospital in Liverpool and wrote: “Waiting to go to theater. Feel so overwhelmed and full of hope and gratitude. Huge thanks to the most amazing surgeons and @nhs team”.

She followed the caption with “#gratitude #nhs #liverpool”.

The news comes just weeks after the actress was rushed to hospital with what’s since been revealed to have been a sinus infection.

Her illness reportedly left the 48 year old in intensive care.

During her previous hospital stint, Danniella was warned that she potentially had to undergo surgery to prevent the infection coming back.

Doctors also expressed concerns that it could spread to Danniella’s brain.

A friend of the actor’s told The Sun at the time: “Experts were concerned infected mucus could track back to her brain, but she is being well cared for in hospital and is on the mend."

It comes after the blonde beauty recently celebrated her birthday and shared a stunning snap enjoying an evening out at a restaurant in Liverpool with pal Ryan Mira.

In the photo, Danniella could be seen wearing a fedora hat with a large, beige scarf over her shoulders while showing off her perfectly manicured hand.

She captioned the photo: “Huge thanks to @rbgliverpool for my birthday treat with @rymi1 #birthday”.

Danniella often shares health updates with her fans, and has been extremely candid over the years with her struggles with addiction.

The actress has entered rehab several times to overcome cocaine addiction, and she confessed last month that she had relapsed again following her most recent stay in a rehabilitation centre.

She wrote in an honest Instagram post: “It's no secret since leaving rehab I've slipped and slides more than I have been straight I guess.”

"I know the best years of my whole adult life was the 14 years I spent clean and sober. So today's the day I go back own my s*** pick up the newcomers ring with pride not shame," she continued.

"I'm ready to re work every step, I'm excited to be off service and do what I'm called to giving back to others seeking a solution thanks to this three-fold illness of alcoholism and addiction."
