Nothing says summertime like gooey, sticky, yummy s’mores. Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis is taking this beloved campfire treat to the next level with her Frozen S’Mores.

The Food Network personality reveals how you can make this frosty treat and the luxurious secret ingredient that makes it extra special.

How to make De Laurentiis’ Frozen S’Mores

On her food blog Giadzy, the mother of one revealed the secret ingredient in her fun spin on conventional s’mores: “The one way to make s’mores even better: ice cream! Mixing super toasty marshmallows and mini chocolate chips into vanilla ice cream make this one of the tastiest sweet summer bites out there.”

This recipe (full instructions can be found here) is as easy as it sounds and calls for nonstick cooking spray, mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, graham crackers, and the vanilla ice cream.

Kitchen tools you’ll need include your oven’s broiler, a rimmed baking sheet, a stand mixer and, of course, your freezer.

With your broiler preheated on high, prep the baking sheet with cooking spray and then arrange the mini marshmallows on it. Broil the marshmallows, but De Laurentiis warns it’s just for 30 seconds. Then let them cool.

Using the stand mixer, use the paddle attachment to whip air into the ice cream so it softens. Stir in the cooled marshmallows and chips just until they’re mixed. The chef makes clear you’ll need to assemble your s’mores quickly before the ice cream begins to melt. Start placing the ice cream mix on half of the graham crackers, top them with the rest of the crackers, and freeze for a couple of hours. Enjoy!

De Laurentiis’ other decadent twist on s’mores

If you’d like another version of s’mores that will become an instant family favorite, try the Giada at Home host’s S’Mores Brownies.

This recipe is a brownie and s’more marriage made in heaven: intense chocolate flavor, fudgy, and simply delectable.

Calling for the usual suspects in s’mores – graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate chips, this recipe also includes sugar, butter, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

Bringing together De Laurentiis’ S’Mores Brownies

A food-processor is used to make the graham cracker crust with the crackers, butter, and sugar, which is then pressed into a square baking pan. The crust is baked and then it’s time for the brownie “filling.”

De Laurentiis says to combine the vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, flour, salt and baking powder. Then, mix in the chocolate chips. Pour this mixture into the baked graham crust and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Once they’re done, she instructs, the mini marshmallows are arranged on the cooked brownie portion and then placed under a broiler for a minute or so, checking frequently to make sure they’re not burned.

As one reviewer of the Rome-born chef’s S’Mores Brownies said: “Sooo amazing and delicious. Definitely a lot of fun to make with kids!”
