Baroness Michelle Mone, 48, who is due to tie the knot with her beau Doug Barrowman, 54, this year opened up about her struggles to lose weight. The businesswoman and entrepreneur revealed there were moments she would “binge” on two McDonalds as well as an evening meal before shedding the weight.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Michelle discussed the benefits of the nationwide lockdown as she developed her very own exercise bootcamp.

The mogul revealed the key to her success was changing her mindset after going through “dark” times.

Michelle explained: “For me, it was all about my mind. Tyson Fury really reminds me of myself. I look at him and I think I’m him.

“Because it’s all about the mind and if I feel unfit, bloated or overweight it affects me mentally. I’m not joking. It’s really, really bad.”

She added: “I’ve been in those dark, lonely corners for some time in my life. And I know that I can never go back there.

“So for me, fitness keeps my mind healthy and keeps me positive. That reflects on business success as well.

“Because if I’m happy and positive, my mind is flowing with creative ideas. I’m also an inventor and technical creative designer as well as an investor and entrepreneur.

“But if I’m healthy and positive in the mind, everyone around me feels it. When I’m down they feel it as well.”

Ahead of her weight loss journey, Michelle admitted she would binge on whatever food she “got my hands on ” but has since adopted a cleaner diet.

She said: “I would eat everything I could get my hands on. I would eat two McDonalds a day and still have my evening meal.”

The former Ultimo brand founder lost a staggering 11lbs in the past 11 months ahead of her nuptials in The Maldives later this year.

Michelle remarked: “I know how to manage myself so I’ve been running my body like a business.

“In the last 11 months, I’ve really upped my game. So from my food intake, what’s right for my body and what’s not. My training regime as well.

“I still had 11lbs left to lose. And now, I’ve got my mind sorted, my insides sorted and everything perfect.

“Since lockdown, myself and Doug always spend so many hours travelling. And we thought now what we will do, we’re not going to be chained to a desk all the time. We’ll do powerful work.”

The couple begin their fitness regime working out in their indoor gym, followed by an afternoon bootcamp class and finish with an evening walk.

Michelle credits former model Rachel Hunter for helping her decide to make a lifestyle change.

She said: “I was on the beach in Miami with our supermodels. When I owned Ultimo, I sold it five years ago now. I was so down and so depressed.

“Rachel Hunter said to me, ‘Why don’t you treat your body like a business?’ So I think that was the first part of the journey for me.

“Then [my weight] was up and down due to my divorce. And then, the business, it gives you stress every day.”

She finished: “So when I came off this wagon, I would just binge. But now, I would say in the last 18 months I’ve really got my mind sorted. I know what to do.”
