Laila Morse, 76, was determined to keep her promise of stripping on stage even after she had sprained her ankle.

The EastEnders star had an accident before she joined fellow celebs for Strictly The Full Monty but she didn't want to turn her back on the charity event, so she opted for the only chance she had.

As she appeared on stage in a wheelchair viewers were left concerned, but she soon explained what had happened – resulting in fans praising her for powering through.

Just before the show appeared on TV, Laila told The Sun about an incident with her ankle as she said: "I couldn't really stand on it, so Ashley said I couldn't take part."

Determined to get on the stage no matter what, Laila pushed for the appearance and said: "So they came up with the idea of a wheelchair and decorated it with sparkly stuff. So I went on stage, I just couldn't dance."

When she was stripping, instead of dancing away she sat with her outfit while she was in the wheelchair and just whipped her top off instead.

Taking to Twitter, fans couldn't help but fawn over her as one user wrote: "Laila Morse is so brave. What an amazing lady."

Another wrote: "What absolute beautiful souls are the stars. Special respect to Laila, had me in tears. What a challenge it is but for a very important cause. Well done you sexy things."

A third chirped: "Laila Morse! I am screaming! So amazing and inspiring to be honest."

Laila is herself a breast cancer survivor following her diagnosis in May 2001, though she beat cancer and had recovered within a year.

She showed off her scars with pride as she made the most of the performance alongside the many other celebs who had all got involved to raise money for cancer.

At the event Laila spoke about her experience with cancer as she confessed to noticing a change in her breasts while doing some gardening.

She said how she was encouraged by her friend and EastEnders co-star Wendy Richards to go and see a doctor immediately.

Wendy also battled breast cancer shortly after and sadly died in February 2009 aged 65.

Speaking on the show, Laila said: ""I did go to the doctors after she’d told me to and I did actually go in and have a lumpectomy so that’s how I know that I had cancer.

"If it wasn’t for Wendy then I don't think I would have been here today."
