Megan Barton Hanson has never held back about her attraction to fellow Love Island star Maura Higgins, and she has confessed that she tried her luck with the Irish bombshell.

Megan, 27, revealed that she slid into Maura's DMs with a message but "got aired" as Maura never replied to her.

Speaking to Heat magazine, Megan said that she's not sure if Maura, who recently split from her co-star Chris Taylor, is bisexual but hopes something could happen in the future.

She said: "I think she's stunning, I think she's a powerful, strong woman. But, I don't know if she's bi. But hopefully one day."

As Jack Fincham joined her for the chat, he told her that he would put in a "good word" for her with Maura.

Megan previously opened up about her attempts to spark a conversation with the former grid girl, saying: "I've slid in her DMs and got nothing… Maybe I just sent an emoji, just dipping the toe in. Got absolutely aired!"

Not only that, Megan also spoke to The Tab about her attraction to Maura, as well as people's preconceptions about her bisexuality.

She said: "I’d love to have coupled up with Maura. I think we’re so similar in so many ways, like our views and stuff – but I don’t know if I could handle her, she’s very high maintenance, but I guess I am too!"

Megan's confession comes after Maura's split from Chris at the start of May, after around six months of dating.

The pair went public with their romance in November 2020 after months of speculation that they were secretly dating, but it wasn't to be.

Maura confirmed their split on Instagram, saying: "'It breaks my heart to even type this but I wanted to let everyone know that myself and Chris have made the joint decision to end our relationship,' Maura said in an emotional statement.

"There is no wrongdoing on either side… we still love, care and respect each other deeply. From the minute we met each other we've been very close friends and that will never change. There is no regret, life is about taking chances.

"We wanted to make this work but we have realised we work better being friends. Whilst I appreciate people may speculate or create false stories this is the truth.

"I wish Chris nothing but the best and I will always be one of his biggest supporters. Thank you for all the love and support."
