There are many ways for shoppers to get offers and deals in their local supermarket. While Tesco customers can claim Clubcard points, those shopping at Sainsbury’s can get money off using their Nectar Card.

A Sainsbury’s shopper took to social media to explain how customers can get money-off vouchers for their next stop by spending just £1.

All customers need to do is scan their Nectar Card and pay for just one item at the till.

They should then receive a coupon.

The shopper explained that she purchased an item that cost £1, but was given a coupon worth £4.50 in return.

This voucher can then be used for the rest of the shop, or saved until the next shop.

The shopper wrote on the popular money saving hints, tips, and ideas Facebook group.

She said: “I don’t shop at Sainsbury’s often, but when I do, I pay for one item first, which is just over a £1.

“I usually then get a money off voucher for my next shop, today it was £4.50. Hope this is helpful.”

The post received more than a hundred likes and tens of comments, with multiple people thanking the shopper.

One person wrote: “I’ve never thought to do this! Will definitely keep in mind now, thank you.”

Another customer commented: “That’s a great help, will remember that. I just end up with loads of voucher that are useless until you shop again.”

One person said: “Very helpful, thank you!”

However, it is worth remembering that this trick is not guaranteed to work.

Some shoppers might not receive a voucher after scanning one item.

The amount of money you can get on a voucher is also random.

Usually, one Nectar point is worth 0.5p, which means 100 points would add up to 50p.

It is easy to sign up to Sainsbury’s loyalty scheme.

All customers need to do is sign up for free online and they can immediately start collecting points.

The points can then be exchanged for money off their shop.

These points are on top of any coupons that are randomly printed after shoppers have paid for an item.

What’s more, points can be spent not only in Sainsbury’s stores, but in other retailers such as Argos and eBay too.
