The popular mobile game “Temple Run” could soon be coming to TV, with unscripted juggernaut A. Smith & Co. Productions teaming with video game company Imangi Studios to develop a competition series based on the game.

The series will give contestants the chance to run the “Temple Run” course in real life. Additional details, including the distributor attached, will be announced at a later date.

“‘Temple Run’ is one of the most recognizable mobile games in the world and we have big plans to bring the global phenomenon to life,” said Arthur Smith, chairman of A. Smith & Co. Productions. “We will bring our keen eye and passion for unscripted content to create a competition where, just like the beloved game, speed, agility and quick decision-making are key.”

“Temple Run” was originally released in 2011 and has gone on to become a massive success. To date, the mobile app has amassed over 2 billion global downloads. The player must race through an ancient temple in search of a valuable relic. But along the way, they must dodge obstacles big and small looking to stop them.

“Our team is always looking for ways to elevate our IP into exciting new formats,” said Walter Devins, CEO of Imangi Studios. “We’ve built a passionate global community around ‘Temple Run,’ and this partnership will give our fans an experience unlike ever before. A. Smith & Co. creates epic shows that inspire people to push their limits to reach greatness, and we can’t wait to see them do the same with ‘Temple Run.’”
