OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder Says He Feels It's 'Tone-Deaf' to Release New Music During Pandemic

OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder said he feels it’s “tone-deaf” to release new music during the coronavirus pandemic.

The musician, 40, explained in an interview with USA Today that his band recently released a charity song, “Better Days,” about “this time and space we’re in,” but only on the condition that the profits be donated to the Red Cross.

“I feel weird saying, ‘Come buy my stuff, check me out,’ ” he said. “Meanwhile, people are sick and dying. It’s very tone-deaf.”

He added that it’s also “really hard to get anyone to pay attention” to new music right now and noted that OneRepublic’s latest album has been “delayed indefinitely until fall.”

In addition to leading OneRepublic, Tedder serves as a producer for major artists, including Adele and Beyonce, and is both an executive producer and a panelist on NBC’s songwriting series Songland.

He said he has songs with other artists slated for the spring, all of which are now up in the air.

“I have a lot of songs with artists — Miley Cyrus, Diplo, Katy Perry — that were all supposed to be coming out in the next couple of months,” Tedder said in the new interview. “Some of them might, but I can tell you that every single artist I’ve talked with is sitting there going, ‘Well, what do I do? Is it going to be a tree falling in a forest?’”

The six Barcelona outcasts offered to Inter Milan to complete Lautaro Martinez deal including £104m Antoine Griezmann – The Sun

BARCELONA want Lautaro Martinez and the feeling is very much mutual – but agreeing a deal with Inter Milan will be tough.

The gifted 22-year-old has had a stunning season with Antonio Conte's side, stepping out of the departed Mauro Icardi's shadow and earning his status as one of Europe's top strikers.

A technically excellent dribbler possessing a lethal finish, it is unsurprising that Martinez has drawn interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

But it is a move to the Camp Nou that he craves – with the opportunity to link-up with Argentine compatriot Lionel Messi at club level too good to miss.

Inter's desire to receive the 5ft 9in goal-getter's £97.6million release clause in full – coupled with Barcelona's desperation to re-sign Neymar in the summer – and not to mention the repercussions of Covid-19, make the deal difficult financially.

But according to Calciomercato, Barcelona could include any one of six players in part-exchange to try and drive the fee down.

We examine the Barca stars that could be sent packing for the San Siro this summer.

1) Antoine Griezmann

Barcelona were keen on the Frenchman for years before finally sealing his arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer in a bumper £104million deal.

The 29-year-old hasn't quite hit the heights at the Camp Nou, however, with his 14 goals and four assists failing to shake the feeling that club chiefs would in hindsight rather have not bought him – putting the money towards a deal for Neymar instead.

Griezmann would likely be an attractive option for Inter, who could field him in a star-studded strikeforce with Lukaku in Conte's 3-5-2 formation.

2) Arturo Vidal

The midfielder is no stranger to Serie A, having won seven trophies in four years with Juventus – managed for the first three of them by none other than Antonio Conte.

The 32-year-old then spent three successful years at Bayern Munich, before swapping Bavaria for Catalonia in 2018.

While undoubtedly a good player, bustling Vidal doesn't quite fit the traditional ideals of a Barcelona midfielder – with a Conte reunion at Inter possibly a better fit for all parties.

3) Arthur

The recipient of Andres Iniesta's legendary No8 shirt at Barcelona, Arthur is undoubtedly a talented player.

A supremely technically gifted player, with an eye for a pass and the metronomic ability to run a game, 23-year-old Arthur is more in the mould of a long-term Barcelona midfielder than Vidal.

But such is Barca's desperation to land Martinez, they could sacrifice the former Gremio talent in order to secure their man – particularly given that they also possess Frenkie de Jong.

4) Nelson Semedo

Sharing right-back duties with Sergi Roberto for the best part of three years now, Semedo is another that could find himself shed if Inter are interested.

The former Benfica defender, 26, has made 111 appearances for the LaLiga giants, but could easily be regarded as replaceable.

Could take the place of Conte-favourite Victor Moses at right-wing back in the former Chelsea manager's 3-5-2 system.

5) Junior Firpo

Brought in just last summer from Real Betis, Junior Firpo's time at Barcelona has not been an unqualified success.

Despite being a talented operator, the 23-year-old has been forced to very much operate as second fiddle to stalwart Jordi Alba.

Only valued at around £17million by Barca chiefs, the Spanish under-21 international could be included in any dealings with Inter.

6) Carles Alena

A midfielder very much in the classic La Masia mould, Alena has hovered around the Barcelona first-team since the 2016-17 season – without ever really staking a claim for a regular place.

Now 22, Alena had finally gone out on loan in January – getting regular game time for Betis prior to the coronavirus pandemic KOing world football.

Although, unlikely to chip away at much of Inter's asking price, Alena could be a nice little bargaining chip for Barcelona.

The 5ft 11in left-footer has managed 39 appearances for their first-team to date.

All the winners from Britain’s Got Talent, from Diversity to Ashleigh and Pudsey the dog

Britain’s Got Talent first aired in 2007 and since then there have been winners who have gone on to have huge careers in the world of glitz and glamour.

Scooping first place in the show isn’t just about getting the chance to perform in front of The Queen at the Royal Variety Performance. Albums, films and endorsements can all follow.

Paul Potts won the first series in 2007, and who can forget Diversity winning in 2009, pipping Susan Boyle to the post for first place. Last year Army veteran Colin Thackery won over the judges and the public, but who will be crowned the Britain’s Got Talent winner this year?

Paul Potts, an opera singer, won the first ever series of Britain’s Got Talent back in 2007. Since then he has gone on to record three albums and had even had a film made about him staring James Corden.

George Sampson wowed the judges in the second series in 2008, dancing his way to the final with his performance to Singing in the Rain. The winner has turned his attention to acting since and has appeared in Waterloo Road and Emmerdale.

The amazing dance group Diversity certainly made a name for themselves when they won in 2009. Although the favourite to win the show that year was in fact Scottish singer Susan Boyle. The dance troupe ended up winning and both Ashley Banjo and his brother Jordan Banjo have gone to make a name for themselves in the world of showbiz.

Acrobatic group Spellbound won in 2010 and even performed at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. The group went on to release a DVD and members Elise Matthews, Georgia Lancaster and Millie Spalding even won three consecutive world championships as a trio in acrobatic gymnastics. After winning gold in 2016, they decided to retire.

Jai Mcdowell won the show in 2011, beating young singer Ronan Parke who was favourite to win the series. Jai supported singer Gareth Gates on tour and was reportedly dropped by Simon Cowell’s record label nine months after being signed.

Ashleigh and her beloved pooch Pudsey stole the show in 2012. Their Mission Impossible routine won them the prize money and not forgetting the chance to perform at the London Royal Variety Performance. Pudsey later starred in his own film, Pudsey the Dog: The Movie, which David Walliams voiced. Pudsey sadly died in 2017 and Ashleigh now performs with her other dog Scully.

Series seven had a Hungarian shadow artist group called Attraction take the top spot in 2013. Attraction broke the tradition from the usual singing and dancing and they were the first foreign act to win. The group went on to perform in Las Vegas and also did some advertisements.

Music theatre act Collabro were crowned winners in 2014. All the finalists in this year’s show were singers, beating Lucy Kay and Bars and Melody to win. Since winning the band have had three albums, although now they are a four-piece as Richard Hadfield left the group in 2016.

2015 saw another dog win over the judges and the public with their clever routines. Julie O’Dwyer and her four-legged friend Matisse stole the show but the final turned into a national scandal when it turned out that Julie had switched dogs! She substituted Matisse for another dog called Chase and never told viewers, who were fuming.

Richards Jones, was the first ever magician to win BGT in 2016. Since winning, he has appeared in a TV show called Operation Magic and has toured the UK with his magic show Power of Imagination. He also toured Butlins in 2018.

It was back to a music act in 2017 when pianist Tokio Myers performed his classical rendition of Rag ’n’ Bone Man’s hit Human. Myers went on to earn three Classical Brit Awards including Album of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Lost Voice Guy, aka Lee Ridley was the first comedian to win Britain’s Got Talent in 2018. Lee has cerebral palsy and speaks through a voice synthesizer after losing his own voice. Since winning he has co-written and performed in Radio 4 sitcom Ability.

Colin Thackery, the Chelsea Pensioner wowed everyone with his voice in last years contest. Colin is the oldest ever winner of the show and he performed at the 2019 Royal Variety Performance.

Beyoncé Made a Surprise Appearance on the 'Disney Family Singalong'

As if knowing the world needed her now more than ever, Beyoncé popped up on the Disney Family Singalong special that aired on ABC April 16.

"Tonight, we come together and take a break to share in the joy of Disney," host Ryan Seacrest said at the beginning of the special, which also raised awareness and funds for Feeding America. The night featured many big stars, like Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera covering classic songs, but nobody was a bigger surprise than Queen Bey, whose appearance had not been mentioned in any of the press leading up to the event.

"I’m very proud to be a part of the Disney family,” Bey during the special. “And to help present the Disney Songbook Singalong in partnership with Feeding America, I’d like to dedicate this song to all of the healthcare workers who’ve been working tirelessly to keep us healthy and safe. We greatly appreciate you.”

She then sang "When You Wish Upon a Star" from Pinocchio and crushed it, naturally.

“She sent something in and it was absolutely beautiful. Beyoncé singing ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ was in the total spirit of not only what the special is about, but what the country is about right now, and it was something only she could do,” Rob Mills, a senior vice president at ABC Entertainment told Buzzfeed News.

Darren Criss shared a little inside insight into the song choice on Twitter. "Fun fact: asked if I could do 'When You Wish Upon a Star.' They said 'that’s impossible to get cleared' which was either the nicest way to tell me 'please don’t' or it was actually true and it’s just nothing is impossible if Beyonce wants to do it," he wrote on Twitter.

As with every time Beyoncé makes a public appearance, social media went nuts. "ABC didn’t even bother to put the lyrics up for Beyoncé’s song. They said don’t you even THINK about singing when Beyoncé sings!!!!! #DisneyFamilySingalong," one person tweeted. "I need Beyoncé to release a small ep of her singing lullabies. Imagine how peaceful sleep would be Loudly crying face," another wrote.

"Please hold on to your families tight. Please be safe. Don’t give up hope, we’re gonna get through this. I promise. God bless you," Beyoncé said as she finished singing and blew the world a big kiss.

Bon Iver Craft a COVID-19 Mantra With New Song 'PDLIF'

Bon Iver unveiled a serene new song, “PDLIF,” and will donate all proceeds from the track to Direct Relief, a non-profit organization aiding the delivery of personal protective equipment to healthcare workers and others on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The song’s title is an acronym for “Please Don’t Live in Fear,” which Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon uses as a simple, but compelling refrain throughout the track. “PDLIF” is based around a sample of Alabaster dePlume’s “Visit Croatia,” which fellow Wisconsin musician Drew Christopherson (of Polica and Marijuana Deathsquads) introduced to Vernon.

Vernon produced “PDLIF” with Jim-E Stack and BJ Burton; it also features contributions from Kacy Hill, Joseph K. Rainey, Eli Teplin, Devin Hoffman and Rob Moose. Because the song came together in the past few weeks, a press release notes that everyone was working in self-isolation and sending their parts back and forth.

“PDLIF” is Bon Iver’s first new studio release since last year’s Grammy-nominated i, i. At the end of March, the band shared a 10th-anniversary reissue of the Blood Bank EP, featuring new live versions of the project’s four songs recorded in 2018.

‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ is leaving Netflix: How to shop its iconic fashions

The preppy psychological thriller “The Talented Mr. Ripley” debuted just over 20 years ago. Thanks to a killer cast (Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman at their disturbing best) and a dreamy 1950s Italy setting, the film became an instant fashion classic, its impeccable resort ensembles still covetable today.

With the movie set to leave Netflix on April 30, there’s no better time to borrow its style for summer vacation inspiration — or a breezy outfit for your next quarantine conference call.

Here’s how to get the iconic looks of Dickie Greenleaf, a wealthy Ivy League grand on permanent vacation in Italy, and Marge Sherwood, his Hitchcock-blond socialite girlfriend.

Marge Sherwood (Gwyneth Paltrow)

If the sun-drenched Amalfi coast were reincarnated as a film character, it would be Marge Sherwood. Whether she’s lolling on a sailboat in the Mediterranean or sleuthing down bougainvillea-draped passageways, she nails “Roman Holiday”-chic. Get her go-to look with a gauzy button-down atop a bathing suit or swooping printed skirt, paired with a beach-friendly straw bag and a pair of espadrilles.

Linen wrap-around blouse, $25 at H&M

Alaçuz skirt, $333 at Farfetch

“Montauk” woven tote bag, $68 at Anthropologie

Castañer “Carola” crochet wedge espadrilles, $120 at Farfetch

Poppy Lissiman “Coco Husk” sunglasses, $115 at Shopbop

Ombre silk diamond scarf, $39 at Echo

Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law)

There’s a reason Damon’s Tom Ripley is obsessed with this “fellow” Princeton grad and shipping heir playboy — and it begins with Dickie’s jet-setting, jazz-worshipping, dolce vita style. Much like the talented Mr. Ripley himself, you can steal Dickie’s suave nonchalance with a breezy button-down and pale pink shorts — oh, and don’t forget to cop his silver watch and signature pinky ring.

Onia “Shaun” linen-blend polo shirt, $85 at Mr Porter

Save Khaki United cotton-corduroy shorts, $110 at Mr Porter

“Striper” distressed sneakers, $60 at Sperry

“Saylor” sunglasses, $145 at Warby Parker

Diamond analog watch, $115 at Guess

Miansai 14-k gold-plated “Heritage” ring, $165 at Saks Fifth Avenue

Prince Harry and Meghan fans add WellChild to #ArchieDay fundraiser

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fans add British charity WellChild to #ArchieDay fundraiser to ‘mark his birthplace’ as they raise over £21,000 ahead of his first birthday

  • Fans celebrating Archie Mountbatten-Windsor’s birthday using tag #ArchieDay
  • Lovers of Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, started campaign weeks ago
  • Initially raised funds for children’s charities in Canada, America and South Africa
  • Have now added British charity WellChild to effort to mark ‘Archie’s birthplace’
  • The initiative has raised over £21,000 to mark Archie’s first birthday on 6 May

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fans have added the British charity WellChild to ‘mark Archie’s birthplace’ as they raise over £21,000 in fundraising efforts to celebrate the royal’s first birthday.

Supporters of Meghan, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, are marking the celebration on 6 May with the hashtag #ArchieDay on social media.

After officially launching the campaign earlier this month, they urged others to share donations with charities to help vulnerable children impacted by coronavirus in countries which the Duke and duchess of Sussex hold dear to their hearts, including Canada , America and South Africa.

The organisers of the initiative have now revealed they have added WellChild to the efforts, writing online: ‘We heard all of your suggestions and we agreed that the #ArchieDay fundraising campaign would not be complete without a nod to Archie’s birthplace. His fatherland, the UK.’

Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, supporters have raised over £21,000 for charities around the world to mark their son Archie’s birthday on 6 May

It’s the first British charity of the official organisations in the campaign, and is the only one of the royal couple’s patronages to be featured.

The move comes days after the Duke showed support for WellChild, of which he has been patron for 10 years, by speaking to British families caring for seriously ill children during the pandemic from his bolthole in Los Angeles, where he is enjoying family time with Meghan and Archie.

While Harry can continue being a patron for a number of charities, he and Meghan were forced to give up their Sussex Royal brand and any other official roles in the UK.

The couple have both attended the WellChild awards together on several occasion, most recently in October last year.

The organisers of the initiative added the British charity WellChild to the fundraising efforts in order to ‘make a nod to Archie’s birthplace’ (pictured, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the WellChild awards in October 2019)

Organisers posted on Instagram to say that they felt the #ArchieDay campaign ‘wouldn’t be complete’ without a British charity

According to official online fundraising pages, Sussex supporters have raised just over £1,600 for the charity since it was included in the campaign.

Meanwhile overall efforts by the initiative have resulted in over £21,000 being donated to the four charities involved.

Launching the campaign officially earlier this month, fan account @Archie_day urged others to help ‘celebrate Archie’s birthday with a global party’, before listing a series of charities selected for the ‘desire to help children.’

Among the three charities chosen by the group was the Nourish Eco Village in South Africa, where Prince Harry and Meghan performed their final royal tour in November.

The addition of the British charity comes after Prince Harry spoke with families caring for seriously ill children during the pandemic from his bolthole in Los Angeles earlier this week

The campaign was launched earlier this month to mark Archie’s first birthday on May 6, encouraging followers to donate to a series of charities to celebrate the day

The charity provides food to children from impoverished families in rural communities that rely on schools to get a meal daily.

Canadian charity Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, which was chosen because ‘Canada has always been central to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s love story and relationship’, also tweeted about the success of the campaign.

Fans were also directed to the organisation Children’s Aid, which helps children living in poverty in America to honour the Duchess’ home country.

Supporters of the Sussexes have been urging others to share donations with four selected charities in the UK, Canada, America and South Africa (pictured, Archie with Prince Harry in December)

Launching the campaign earlier this month, fan account @Archie_Day shared an image which read: ‘Motivated by the pure joy of Archie’s arrival and the very serious circumstances of our time, we introduce a campaign to honour his first birthday and to promote the principles we hold dear. Community, kindness and compassion.’

The image, which was shared by multiple fan accounts on social media as they launched the coordinated campaign read: ‘Before COVID-19 became an ominous presence in our lives, a group of us got together ot organise a fundraising campaign to honour the principles emphasized by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their humanitarian efforts: community, kindness, and compassion for vulnerable people and ecologies.’

It went on to explain that the group hoped to build on the success of previous fundraising efforts, including last year’s #GlobalSussexBabyShower, which was launched by a Meghan fan account, called for users to celebrate Mother’s Day by donating to some of the Duchess’ favourite charities and patronages.

It follows a campaign last year by the group ahead of baby Archie’s birth to raise money for some of the Duchess’ patronages and favourite charities

The message went on: ‘It is in that spirit, we kick off the #ArchieDay fundraiser in benefit of vulnerable children affected by the coronavirus epidemic.

‘We are all in this together. We will get through this together. We would love your support.’

Harry and Meghan are in Los Angeles after moving from their multi-million pound Vancouver hideout where they spent their six-week Christmas break ahead of ‘Megxit’.

Mum makes chore list to trick her kids into doing jobs and says her house is the cleanest it’s ever been

WE'RE just over three weeks into lockdown and, we're not exaggerating when we say this, but our home looks like an actual bomb-site right now.

But rather than doing a half-hearted tidy at the end of the day, one savvy mum has revealed the genius way she tricked her kids into cleaning the house from top-to-bottom – and says her home is now the tidiest it's EVER been.

Posting on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, the mum revealed how she bribed her two children with the promise of a secret "special event" that evening.

Rather than paying them with pocket money, the savvy parent started by listing all the chores they needed to complete to "earn money" for the treat.

For instance, they could earn 20p for making their beds, 50p for washing at least five items in the kitchen and another 50p for mopping the floors.

After they'd completed every chore, the mum then gave her kids a little token with the amount written on it – which they could then use to 'buy' a ticket to Sonic the Hedgehog at the surprise at-home cinema she created for them.

What's more, the mum even decanted popcorn, crisps and sweets into plastic cups for her children to "buy" for a 50p token as a bonus.

Posting pictures detailing every stage of the parenting hack ,the mum added: "Just sharing how cheap and fun this idea was.

"My two oldest have done more cleaning in a day than the last 3 weeks!"

Needless to say, other parents are now lining up to try it for themselves.

One replied: "Can I buy a ticket? I love it."

Another added: "Hope you and your kids enjoyed I think it was a great idea and teaches them life skills!"

For more parenting stories, this mum transformed her lounge into an amazing campsite with paddling pool and fire after their Easter holiday was cancelled.

And this mum shared the clever way she dip dyed her daughter’s hair using crepe paper – and the colour is amazing.

Plus parents are transforming their old trampolines into comfy summer dens – and they look amazing.
