Laura Hamilton got emotional when she helped her house hunters find a perfect home in the Cypriot sun.

The A Place in the Sun presenter took couple Diane and Gary to the coastal city of Paphos on a search of a wheelchair-friendly apartment.

They had a budget of £130,000 and an extra £10,000 as "wiggle room".

Both Diane and Gary fell in love with the fifth and final property in Kato Paphos – a two-bed bungalow with a huge terrace and communal pool, which was on the market for £144,545.

Appearing on the Tuesday (June 1) programme, Laura asked if they would like put in an offer for the dream home.

"No," Diane answered without hesitation before she let slip a laugh, saying: "We want to! We want to, but I don't think they'll accept it."

Diane and Gary wanted to put in an offer for £125,000 and explained that there were some areas in the house they wished to improve on.

Laura called the estate agent and the offer was rejected. But they came back with a counter-offer at £127,000.

When the agent returned the call, Laura delivered the good news: "Well guys, the news is… £126,000 is accepted. The property's yours."

The couple was overjoyed and Diane said: "I can't believe they've come down. Sorry I've got tears."

"Congratulations and cheers to that!"
