Sharon Bentley (played by Tracie Bennett) has been secretly helping her nephew Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) ever since she returned to Coronation Street last month. Rita Tanner’s (Barbara Knox) former foster daughter has been trying to track down Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) but Harvey turned nasty when her plan to find the mum failed. Will Harvey find a way to escape prison and put his aunt’s life in danger?

In recent scenes, Sharon found herself in trouble with her nephew when her attempts to learn Leanne’s location backfired.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) broke his cover to visit dad Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in the hospital.

They had no idea Harvey’s thugs were watching the hospital at first but Peter and Carla Connor (Alison King) soon realised and put a plan in action to keep Leanne’s location safe.

Carla evaded the thugs and arrived at the safe house with a warning for Leanne and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price.

Sharon devised a new plan by turning up at No.1 with a bouquet of flowers, pretending to be concerned about Peter.

Instead, Sharon stole Carla’s phone and discovered the safe house address which she passed on to her nephew’s thugs.

However, yet again Leanne, Nick and Simon evaded danger and escaped the house before the thugs arrived.

Harvey was furious with his aunt and told her she was “dead” if she didn’t find a way to track down the family.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Tracie opened up on the fear Sharon feels over her nephew’s chilling words.

She said: “There’s kind of a limit coming between the two of them. He gets a bit sassy and she says, ‘Oi, I’ll be the authority figure’.

“But she’s terrified, then sassy, then thinking, ‘He’s going psycho, I’m a bit scared now because he’s not acting normal.

“With these death threats she’s seemingly very selfish. I have to play it ambiguous as well, there’s all these complex feelings.”

“It’s really hard as an actress to do all these different levels and feelings,” she continued.

“Even behind Harvey’s back we don’t know what she’s really thinking.

“How far will Harvey go? The death threat on me is a problem because then you see Sharon struggle with her morality.”

The Coronation Street actress explained Sharon is tricked into committing a crime for Harvey.

“She’s doing it because she’s selfish and guilt tripped but she might go to prison for something she does,” she said.

“She does it and she’s a bit torn but when it actually happens she’s realising how dangerous it is too.”

Coronation Street viewers will know Sharon has been helping her nephew but the drug dealer may suspect her loyalties lie elsewhere.

Will Sharon help Harvey escape prison without realising that he plans to get revenge on his aunt?

Elsewhere, Tracie explained why Sharon feels responsible for her nephew.

She said: “She feels that she owes something to [her brother] and they got on really well because they didn’t at first, she was a very damaged teenager.

“But Harvey is using me because his dad, Wayne did that same thing for me of looking out for me.

“Harvey emotionally blackmails me, and I’ve had a lot to think about since I was ill with cancer, she very nearly died.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm.
