Emmerdale fans couldn't concentrate on the plot because they were too busy trying to figure out who Meena Jutla's barrister was.

Last night in Emmerdale (Monday, April 4), fans realised that evil killer Meena was up to something.

Meena's defence barrister Milligan revealed it was her job to get a not guilty verdict from the jury for the murderer – meaning she could potentially get freed if successful.

But it wasn't the storyline that left fans taken aback, it was the identity of defence barrister Milligan.

One very confused fan of the ITV soap took to Twitter to ask: "Nooooooo thought that was Kate Robins for a minute.. is it??"

Someone then replied with: "It is."

"lol Shut up Kate or her sister?? LOOOOL Don't fry me brain it's only Monday LOL," replied the original confused viewer.

Another person then chimed in and confirmed everybody's suspicions: "No it is definitely Emily’s mum."

Half right and half wrong – fans will be relieved to learn the true identity of Meena's barrister because Milligan is portrayed by actress Amy Robbins – Kate's sister.

Fans may recognise her from her role on The Royal, between 2003 and 2011.

Or you might remember her popping up in the likes of Heartbeat, Casualty, Holby City, Father Brown and Doctors.

Emmerdale isn't the first soap she's popped up in either, because Amy has appeared in Hollyoaks and EastEnders before arriving in the Dales on Monday night.

With acting and celebrity status running in the family, her sister Kate Robbins is Emily Atack's mum and an actress herself.

Kate recently appeared in Netflix's After Life and BBC's EastEnders.

Amy and Kate's brother Ted Robbins is also a familiar face in the acting world, having had roles on Ackley Bridge, The A Word, Mount Pleasant, Bad Education and ITV's much-loved soap opera Coronation Street.
