Richard Madeley has admitted that living in lockdown with his wife Judy Finnigan has been ‘tense’ as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
However, the legendary presenter, who’s currently presenting Keep Reading and Carry On alongside his spouse over on Channel 4, revealed that picking up a book keeps him from getting ‘snappy’.
‘In all marriages, things can occasionally get tense, and you can get a bit snappy with each other, especially if you’re together 24/7,’ Richard told The Mirror.
He added that reading gives them ‘space’ away from each other.
Revealing what he’s currently got his head into, Richard, who’s been married to Judy for 34 years, spilled: ‘Judy is re-reading Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier, and I have been reading The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.’
Richard got in big trouble with his wife Judy on Keep Reading and Carry On last night after forgetting he had once interviewed Sir Elton John.
The pair were discussing the Rocketman icon’s autobiography Me with Stacey Dooley and Reverend Richard Coles when he sighed that he’d ‘never had the chance to meet him’.
In shock, Judy then corrected him and told him that they had, during their Channel 4 talk show Richard and Judy, that ran between 2001 and 2007.
‘Yeah we did, we’ve interviewed him!,’ she exclaimed, prompting him to ask when.
‘Richard, your memory! Of course we did.’
Admitting that the moment had completely passed his memory, Richard took a little consolation in the fact that it was ‘years ago’ and not something recent.
