Sinister DI Malone (Mark Womack) showed up in Emmerdale with a plan during tonight’s episode, as he revealed all of the devilish details about the dodgy operation he wants Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) to assist him with, but it soon became apparent that the entire thing is a set up.

Since Malone last paid him a visit, Cain has been treading on egg shells — something which Moira (Natalie J Robb), Aaron (Danny Miller) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) have all noticed — as he worried about what this big operation of Malone’s would entail.

During tonight’s episode, the Easter Egg hunt was due to commence, and Cain was tasked with taking Kyle and Isaac to the event — that is, until Malone showed up once more, and therefore he left Nate (Jurrell Carter) in charge of the children.

Malone revealed his plan to Cain, Will and Billy — confirming that this is the final request he’ll have for them — but Billy was somewhat apprehensive, as he worried about possible ramifications which could impact Dawn (Olivia Bromley).

However, Cain mangled to talk the young man into taking part.

Afterwards, Moria learned that Cain had left the kids with Nate and she was naturally fuming. She confronted him on the matter, but — as per usual — Cain refused to open up, leaving Moira’s suspicions raised once more.

However, as the episode came to a close, Malone made a phone call — and he informed the person on the other end of the line that the gang ‘they’ are after are taking part in something dodgy, and therefore the police need to be ready — which confirms that he’s intent on setting Cain, Billy and Will up.

With Malone determined to prove to Cain who’s boss, will he succeed in having the Dingle hard-man arrested and thrown in prison?

If so, will Cain go down and, therefore, exit?

Emmerdale continues Friday 1 May at 7pm on ITV.
