Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) was left fuming with fiancée Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) during tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, as she caused something of a scene in the chemotherapy ward upon discovering Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) had popped in for a visit.

Vanessa’s first day of chemo arrived, but with Moses and Johnny both poorly, she insisted that Charity stay home to look after the kids — promising that she would find a replacement to go with her.

Tracy (Amy Walsh) was the best option, but when Vanessa came to realise that her sister was busy, she decided to keep shtum about her lack of a companion and therefore headed to the hospital on her own.

Meanwhile, Kerry was in the process of taking Dan (Liam Fox) home from the hospital, and — after taking a wrong turn — she spotted Vanessa in the chemo ward, and thus resolved to keep her company.

Vanessa wasn’t in the least bit pleased to see her arch-nemesis — reminding her that she was responsible for Frank’s (Michael Praed) death.

In spite of the conflict, Kerry resolved to stay put, which left Vanessa upset. However, as the pair talked, the ice thawed, and the vet broke down in Kerry’s arms.

Upon realising that Tracy didn’t accompany Vanessa to her chemo, Charity raced to the hospital to be by the love of her life’s side, but conflict ensued when she set her sights upon Kerry.

A very public scene followed — much to Vanessa’s dismay — as Charity berated and pushed Kerry around, and knocked into several patients as a result.

Vanessa was devastated by Charity’s reactions, and therefore asked her to leave, and — not sure how to proceed — Charity did as she asked and exited the hospital.

Will Charity and Vanessa be able to make it through this?

Emmerdale continues Wednesday 22 April at 7pm on ITV.
